Community Based Rehablitation Program:
Anaikkum Karangal (CBR-1)
The self care group for leprosy affected persons was initiated with 14 members in October 2003. The objective of saving for one’s own benefit was sown into the minds of the members and they took the initiative to bring in more members into the group. This group meets first Thursday of every month. POD sessions are conducted regularly so that the members practice self care methods to reduce incndents of ulcer, self dressing is also encouraged to be practiced at their home to avoid coming to hospital for dressing. Free dressing kit also provided for their dressing purpose.
Anbin Karangal (CBR-2)
Anbin Karangal group was started in 2003 to improve the quality of life of disabled persons with appropriate medical and surgical interventions. Socio economic orientation through proper counseling and monitoring. Clients with limb deformities, bone and joint infection etc.. have benefited through medical consultations, treatment with orthopeaedician. Apart from medical intervention, physiotherapy of deformities of disables person is undertaken, social rehabilitation is provided to our clients. The client and the family members are counseled to adopt to the disability and live with disability. Networking with other NGOs have helped clients get supportive aids and appliance since inception. Training assistance and job placement are done after proper socio economic assessment and counseling.
